In 1901 Per Alfred Stenberg founded a foundry in the town of Emmaboda in southern Sweden. One of the main products of the company was molds for the glass industry.

 

After a while, Per Alfred transferred the ownership of the company to his sons. In 1922 HildingFlugt established a pump and fan company in Stockholm. Through a newspaper ad, in 1929 the two companies got to know each other, which led to the Stenberg brothers starting to manufacture Flygt pumps in Emmabod.

 

Sixten Englesson, chief engineer, invented the first submersible drainage pump in 1947 and the first submersible sewage pump in 1956. In 1968, the Stenberg family sold the company to the ITT Corporation. In the 1970s, the product range expanded with mixers and other products. Flygt is currently part of the American concern Xylem Inc.

A few years ago, Flygt made a revolutionary breakthrough – the world’s first FlygtConcertor smart pump for pumping wastewater. The FlygtConcertor system is able to determine and analyze the operating parameters of the pumped medium, changing pump performance in real time and providing feedback with a pump station operator. Flygt submersible pumps, agitators, aeration systems are used in wastewater treatment plants, in wastewater systems and many other areas. Flygt is often the only exclusive supplier as manufactures unique hydrotreating equipment.
